Rosemont has been an iconic farm in the Geelong region for the best part of a century. Once boasting Geelong’s most popular pony club, it has served as a sheep farm, cattle country and is now set-up as one of the more picturesque boutique thoroughbred farms in Victoria … and continues to spread its wings.
In 2012, we acquired another 1400 acres further upstream along the Barwon River to take our breeding operation to another level. Formerly known as Roxby when owned by Steve Vizard, and later as Makybe under the Santic’s care, Rosemont Gnarwarre now makes up the heartbeat of the breeding operations for one of Australia’s fastest growing thoroughbred businesses.
The Ceres farm is now used specifically for spelling racehorses and sprawls over 650 acres with two and a half kilometers of Barwon River frontage. The undulating ground up the Barrabool Hills and the magnificent river flats offer the perfect combination for the successful rearing of any stock, but in particular thoroughbred horses.
A small draft of angus/murray grey cattle also enjoy residence at Rosemont, offering the perfect environment for crop growing as well. Planted on farm and used for resident stock include Lucerne pasture, oats and Italian rye hay.
Unique French provincial-style 10-box stable and office complex compliments the beautiful surrounds on offer at Rosemont Ceres, establish in 1991.
Rosemont Gnarwarre is a state of the art farm boasting multi million dollar facilities including a magnificent stallion barn, home to Toorak Toff and Danzero, yearling barns, a vet hospital used exclusively by our resident vet Dr Claire Brown and a glorious period homestead and office.
Beautiful riverside yearling paddocks have been used to grow out some recent Group I turf stars like Starspangledbanner, Pear Tart, Headway, Arapaho Miss, Jolie Bay and Better Be The One.
