Heading into the sales season pedigree updates are always important, and none more so when the update is an impressive winner who is aiming for Group One glory!
The Peter Morgan and Craig Widdison-trained Eloping, a Choisir filly out of the Rory’s Jester mare Runaway Jesse is a three-quarter-sister to Rosemont Stud’s 2014 Magic Millions Yearling Sale bound Lot 39, a chestnut colt by Choisir’s globally renowned sprinting sensation Starspangledbanner.
Jumping away a little slowly from the gates, the two-year-old filly hunted forward to take the leaded and over the 900m proved to speedy for her rivals, trouncing the opposition by two-and-a-half lengths, recording a race time of 51.59, not that far off Innovation Girl’s track record time of 51.22.
“She’s eligible for the Magic Millions (2YO Classic) but it will probably come a little too quickly for her so we’ll give her a little break and come back for the Blue Diamond,” Morgan said.
“She’s always shown us good ability at home and we’ve been pretty happy with her.”
Morgan said Eloping would probably have her next run in either the Listed Blue Diamond Preview (1000m) at Caulfield on January 25 or the Group Three Blue Diamond Prelude (1100m) at the same track two weeks later.
Standing his first season at Rosemont Stud this year, Starspangledbanner has a select draft of seven yearlings headed to the 2014 Magic Millions Yearling Sale and Lot 39 is one of three yearlings Rosemont Stud will be offering as agent for Saconi Thoroughbreds as part of an overall draft of 18 yearlings which can be viewed by clicking here.
Already the dam of Jesse’s Girl, a multiple stakes placed full-sister to Eloping, Runaway Jesse is a half-sister to the Group Three-winning, Group Two placed All Courage, who is by another of Rosemont Stud’s stallions in the Group One Golden Slipper winner Danzero.
