After finishing a gallant third in the Wyong Magic Millions 3yo Stakes behind Sweet Idea, beaten just over a length, the Rosemont Stud-bred and sold Estonian Princess headed to Royal Randwick on New Year’s Day and produced a brilliant victory, scoring by a length and a half from Takewin, with a further two and a quarter lengths away to the third placed Enormous Honour.
By Australia’s leading sire Snitzel, Estonian Princess (pictured above left) is out of the American-bred Prized mare Meet My Sis, herself a half-sister to the four-time Listed winner Variety Spice.
Already the dam of the Group Two Sandown Guineas winner Schilling, Meet My Sis produced a classy looking filly (pictured right) by resident stallion Toorak Toff in the spring and is currently safely back in foal to the dual Group One winning son of Show A Heart.
With her next start likely to be the Magic Millions 3yo Guineas on the Gold Coast, the owners made a great purchase a few years back, signing the docket on the filly for only $65,000.
Having already earned her connections back her purchase price, the Scott Asprey-trained filly is now in contention for some of the $1 million prize money on offer in the race on January 11.
Rosemont Stud wish the connections of Estonian Princess the best of luck with her next start and remind everyone that once again they will be offering an outstanding draft of yearlings on the Gold Coast this year.
