With a draft of 16 yearlings taken to this year’s Magic Millions Yearling Sale, it was great to see that 14 of them found new homes, with the likelihood of the remaining two finding homes in the coming weeks.
There were plenty of highlights for not only Rosemont Stud’s draft, but also for how Starspangledbanner’s first yearling crop was received by buyers as well as the fact that Toorak Toff’s presence was felt despite not having any yearlings yet available, with the first three home in the Magic Millions 3YO Guineas all having some connection to him.
The top seller from the Rosemont Stud draft was Lot 494, the Snitzel colt (pictured left) out of the Woodman mare Keela, which sold to Paul Perry for $280,000.
Next on the list was Lot 386 that went the way of Magic Millions as agent for $220,000. By the now deceased Northern Meteor out of the stakes-winning Quest For Fame mare Feelers, the brown colt is a half-brother to the stakes winning Lonhro gelding Tromso.
Another of the draft to sell extremely well was Lot 375, a Fastnet Rock colt out of the Magic Albert mare Fabella. Knocked down to Danny O’Brien Racing for $200,000, the colt is closely related to stakes winners Lorne Dancer and Indian Ocean.
