With the 2015 Magic Millions Yearling Sale conducted today, February 12 at Launceston’s Inveresk Showgrounds, it was extremely rewarding to see that the progeny of Toorak Toff were once again well received in the ring.
Both fillies, the first to go through the ring was Lot 8: Toorak Toff x Inchcape, by Ladoni (pictured above left).
Consigned from the draft of S L Heathcote, the bay filly is the third foal from the multiple winning Ladoni mare Inchcape, herself a half-sister to the Listed winner Highclere, both daughters of the Listed Tasmanian One Thousand Guineas winner Showery.
Secured for $37,000 by leading yearling purchaser and syndicator Star Thoroughbreds, the filly was one of two yearlings on offer by the Fastest Golden Rose Winner Ever!
The second to go through the ring was Lot 59: Toorak Toff x Smooth Return, by Redoute’s Choice.
Selling for $50,000 to Kelvin Wadley, the impressive filly comes from a pedigree full of black type winners highlighted by the Group Two-winning, Group One placed Gypsy Diamond.
With both fillies looking very similar, on the overall sales results, the pair finished as the second and fourth top selling fillies of the sale, with the top priced filly and third highest selling fillies being by leading sires Sebring and Bel Esprit respectively.
All in all it has been a great sale period since January for the progeny of Toorak Toff as they sold up to $190,000 at January’s Magic Millions when a colt from the Rosemont Stud draft went to Champion Thoroughbreds, while earlier this week at the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale, Gai Waterhouse secured the top seller out of the chestnut stallion for $100,000, a colt also from the draft of Rosemont Stud.
