Volkstok’n’barrel left the Logan Racing stable today to head to Melbourne for Saturday’s Group 1 Memsie Stakes!
All the staff at Logan Racing gave Volkstok’n’barrel, (Trevor), a big hug today before he left for Auckland Airport bound for Melbourne.
Pictured trainers Chris Gibbs and Donna Logan, track rider and farrier Tony Sneddon and Stable Foreman Cherie Saxon.
Chris Gibbs flies to Melbourne tonight and will base at Caulfield with Trevor kicking off his campaign towards the Cox Plate by starting in the Group 1 New Zealand Bloodstock Memsie Stakes over 1400m on Saturday. He has drawn 12 and will be ridden by Blake Shinn. In true professional style Blake rang Donna last night to discuss Volkstok’n’barrel’s previous runs and he has really done his homework on the horse.
Chris and Donna are really happy with the horses prep and he is in great condition. Although this is a quality field with many Group 1 winners we are sure Volkstok’n’barrel will be coming home strongly in the final stages and can hopefully get some of it.
