Stakes races, stakes horses resuming and a couple of sticky barriers will have Team Rosemont on the edge of their seats today at Caulfield. There’s plenty of anticipation ahead of G1 racing at The Heath. Follow our runners through the day:
ROSEMONT RUNNERS CAULFIELD
Race 4 – no. 11 SPLIT LIP
First start for Weiry after doing a superb job under Will Clarken in SA winning at stakes level and Group placed last start. Has been a typical slow-burn Weiry build up but fit enough to go back to the races today with an eye on 1200-1400m mares sprints later in the carnival. Will be finishing off from the wide barrier.
Race 5 – no 10 TRUE EXCELSIOR
Gun mare ready to fire. Troy and Leon have been super patient with her after her tremendous 1st up run beaten under a length. Her blood picture was a little off after that run but being patient will pay off and they now have had her spot on for a fortnight before choosing to go back to the races. Will be fitter deeper into the prep but a mare with G1 ability at her best and will put up a big show at double figure odds. Eachway all day!
Race 7 – no 2 THRILLSTER
Can’t wait to see her back to the races today. Has been 3 weeks since her awesome performance in the Atlantic Jewel Stakes and is ready to get back into it! Wide barrier a bit tricky from Noel Callow and Team Corstens are reserving tactics until we see how the pattern of the day is panning out. Can go back and swoop late or has the speed from the barrier to push forward. What to do, what to do???!! Looks every bit like she will relish the step up to 1400m. In this up to her beautiful ears!!
Race 9 (5pm) – no 14 RUNAWAY
First up and still in the Melbourne Cup picture according to Gai! Love her positivity! When asked given the later kick off point for this fellow what race she is setting him for, the First Lady of racing replied: “We will have him ready for the Lexus, win that and straight into the Cup!!” Reminding us later in the conversation that “I can do anything with a horse!”
You’ve gotta love her!!!
Strong to the line, top five finish, she might just have the St Leger winner on track!
